One of the leading doctors within the Alfred Hospital’s remarkable Trauma team, Dr Helen Stergiou, spoke to me for the RACV Royal Auto ‘Impact’ series, discussing the importance of planning, teamwork and the changes in technology that have transformed her work over the course of her career. Dr Stergiou also talked of the privilege she feels to work with her patients and their families, but admitted to being surprised at the ability of humans to continually make the same mistakes that land them in her Emergency ward over and over and over again.
