I was asked to research and script a Telstra advertorial package for the Seven Network, for the Rio Olympics coverage, celebrating all the advances and miraculous developments in TV coverage of the Games since the 1956 Melbourne Olympics.
This was a labour of love for me, as my father was heavily involved in covering those 1956 Games, as a Seven engineer in the first year of television in Australia. (My dad apparently picked up my mum for a date once in the outside broadcast van pictured above.)
Plus I’ve worked at Seven many times over the past two decades and am fond of the Seven Sport brand, and the people.
